Wastewater
WCC offers the following courses to prepare students to sit for certification exams:
This class provides an overview of the processes involved in treating wastewater. It covers the basics of wastewater, including its sources and types as well as the collection systems used to transport wastewater to treatment facilities. Preliminary treatment processes, sludge processes and sampling are covered as well. Health and safety protocols are emphasized to protect operators and the environment. Operators are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to manage and maintain wastewater treatment facilities effectively, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safeguarding public health. Successful students are then able to sit for the certification exam, safety practices, and environmental impacts as well. Upon completion, students are equipped with the knowledge needed to manage wastewater treatment processes effectively.

This class covers the importance of collection systems in securely transporting wastewater from residential, commercial, and industrial sources to treatment facilities. This includes instruction on regulatory requirements, system design parameters, identifying and solving system problems, and safe operating procedures. Students learn about various components of collection systems, such as pipelines, manholes, and lift stations, and how to inspect, clean, and maintain them. Upon completion, operators are equipped to safely operate and maintain wastewater collection systems.
