Construction

Careers in the construction industry require employees at all skill levels. To get started, new employees should receive training in on-the-job safety, basic blueprint reading, understanding hand and power tools, and having strong measurement and basic math skills. Opportunities are available in both residential and commercial construction.

Available courses include:

This course introduces residential and commercial electrical wiring systems. Topics include safety, care and use of tools and materials, use of NEC, circuit planning, overcurrent protection, and installation of conduits, cables, and conductors. Upon completion, students should be able to correctly identify tools, materials, and procedures for electrical installation.

This course introduces the basic principles of print reading. Topics include line types, orthographic projections, dimensioning methods, and notes. Upon completion, students should be able to interpret basic prints and visualize the features of a part or system.
