Medication Aide

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for becoming qualified as a Medication Aide. The course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications. Upon completion, students should be able to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry.

CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED AND WILL BE FILLED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS.

  • Program Location: Wilkes-Herring Hall
  • Format: seated
  • Program Prerequisites:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Completion of Nurse Aide I Training Program
    • Current listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry
  • Registration Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Driver’s license (or government issued photo bearing identification)
    • Social Security card
    • Employment Verification Letter as NA I or recent completion of NA I class
    • Name on NA I Registry must be current
  • Tuition & Fees: $70.00 (must be paid at registration)
