Wilkesboro, NC — High school students from across northwest North Carolina gathered at Wilkes Community College to participate in the annual North Carolina FFA Northwest Region Rally, a day dedicated to competition, learning, and leadership development in the field of agriculture.

With over 400 students and educators from 24 schools across the region represented students participated in a wide range of Career Development Events (CDEs) including Creed Speaking, Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Parliamentary Procedure, Job Interview, Tools and Materials, Forestry, Introduction to Horticulture, Nursery Landscape, and Floriculture.

The rally provided an opportunity for young agricultural leaders to showcase their skills, connect with peers, and experience hands-on learning. A highlight of the day included students exploring the new Wilkes Mobile Soil Classroom, an innovative mobile learning lab designed to enhance soil science education.

“Through their experiences today, these students were able to grow as leaders and demonstrate their technical abilities in a variety of hands-on competitions,” said Andy VonCanon, Regional FFA Coordinator. “It is always encouraging to see the hard work and dedication of FFA members across the Northwest Region!”

The Wilkes Community College Agriculture departments were proud to host the event, celebrating the future of agriculture and providing a platform for student success. The Northwest Region Rally continues to reflect the mission of the FFA: to prepare students for leadership and careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture.
