To graduate, students must:

  1. Complete a graduation application with their academic advisor and then submit it to the Office of Student Services during the designated period (November 5, 2018 – February 28, 2019). Note: A My Progress/Program Evaluation that verifies eligibility for graduation must be attached to the application.
  2. Complete all required courses for the degree, diploma, or certificate. (Associate degree graduates may participate in the annual spring graduation exercise if they have one or two courses to complete during the summer term. More than two courses needed during the summer term must be approved by the division dean and registrar. However, the college cannot guarantee courses needed for graduation will be offered during the summer term.)
  3. Attain a cumulative grade point average of “C” (minimum of 2.00) in all work attempted in a degree, diploma, or certificate program.
  4. Complete no less than 25 percent of the semester hours required in the program of study at Wilkes Community College.
  5. Satisfy all financial obligations to Wilkes Community College.

Students who will complete all required coursework for graduation during the subsequent summer term may participate in graduation exercises if they have:

  1. Satisfied the criteria stated above in items 1, 3, 4, & 5.
  2. Registered for all courses required to complete the degree, diploma or certificate for the subsequent summer term and paid the tuition for the summer term.
  3. Received permission from the appropriate division dean. (Diploma seeking students are excluded.)

Students should plan carefully for summer term as only a limited number of courses are offered, and students may not be able to take the courses needed for graduation.

All graduating students must pay a graduation fee in the college bookstore. The fee will cover the cost of the cap, gown, tassel, and degree, diploma or certificate.  Postage costs for mailing the degree, diploma and/or certificate are also included in the fee. Note: Degrees, diplomas, and certificates will not be distributed at the graduation ceremony. They will be mailed at a later date and the timeframe for mailing will vary depending upon what semester/term someone completes his/her graduation requirements. Additional details will be posted on the graduation webpage in May 2019.

Graduating students are encouraged to participate in the commencement exercise, but attendance is not required.
