Wilkes Community College Graduation 2021 will be held at the John A. Walker Community Center on the campus of Wilkes Community College Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The graduation date, time, and format may change based on COVID-19 restrictions.

To be classified as a graduate from a degree, diploma, and/or certificate program, students must:

  1. Complete all required courses for the degree, diploma, or certificate. Associate degree graduates may participate in the annual spring graduation ceremony if they have one or two courses to complete during the summer term. Students needing to complete more than two courses, must receive approval from the division dean and registrar. Note: The college cannot guarantee that courses needed for graduation will be offered during the summer term.
  2. Attain a cumulative grade point average of “C” (minimum of 2.00) in all work attempted in a degree, diploma, or certificate program.
  3. Complete a minimum of 25 percent of the semester hours required in the program of study at Wilkes Community College.
  4. Satisfy all financial obligations to Wilkes Community College.

Students who will complete all required coursework for graduation during the subsequent summer term may participate in the May graduation ceremony if they have:

  1.  Satisfied the criteria stated above in items 2, 3, & 4.
  2. Registered for all courses required to complete the degree, diploma or certificate for the subsequent summer term and paid tuition/fees for the summer term.

After completing all academic course requirements for your degree, diploma, and/or certificate, the completion of your credential(s) will automatically be marked on your transcript within one week of the end of the semester/term.

To participate in the annual graduation ceremony in May or to receive a copy of your degree, diploma, and/or certificate that can be used for framing/displaying, you must complete the following steps.

Step 1:  If you are completing requirements for a degree, diploma, and/or certificate in December 2020, May 2021, or August 2021, you must submit a graduation application through E-Forms between November 2, 2020 and March 26, 2021.

Step 2:  After your graduation application has been received and reviewed, you will be notified through your college Office 365 email account about your eligibility for graduation. If your eligibility for graduation is confirmed, your email will indicate that your graduation invoice has been submitted to the bookstore. Students who are ineligible for graduation will be asked to meet with their academic advisor and/or Student Services representative to review their academic record.

Step 3:  Go to the bookstore and provide them with your Student ID to pay for your cap and gown and/or degree(s), diploma(s), or certificate(s). Postage costs for mailing the degree(s), diploma(s) and/or certificate(s) are included in the fees. Note: Degrees, diplomas, and certificates will not be distributed at the graduation ceremony. They will be mailed at a later date and the timeframe for mailing will vary depending upon what semester/term graduation requirements are completed. Additional details will be posted on the graduation webpage in May 2021.
