Wilkes Community College recently gave tribute to two trustees. With the impact of COVID-19, meetings and special events at the college were delayed until restrictions were modified to allow in-person meetings.
In honor of Sylvia D. Robinson July 29, 1950 – June 4, 2020

At its meeting on April 8, 2020, Wilkes Community College paid tribute to past trustee, Sylvia Robinson, who served as a trustee from July 1, 2010, through June 4, 2020. Dr. Jeff Cox, President of WCC and Board of Trustees chair, Terry Bumgarner, presented the family with a plaque noting Ms. Robinson’s service to the Board of Trustees and a resolution noting her contributions to WCC and Wilkes County. Paul Robinson, Sylvia’s brother, spoke of her dedication to the board and how she took much pride in her time as a board member. Wilkes Community College is grateful for the vital service that was given by Ms. Robinson during her 10-year tenure as a board member, and her presence is greatly missed.
In Recognition of Katrina V. Miller July 1, 2004 – June 30, 2020

Katrina V. Miller, former WCC trustee, was honored with a luncheon hosted by fellow Ashe County trustees, Josh Roten and Kelly Vannoy at Jefferson Landing Country Club. Dr. Jeff Cox, president of WCC, and Board of Trustees chair, Terry Bumgarner, presented Mrs. Miller with a plaque noting her service to the Board of Trustees and a resolution noting her contributions to WCC and Ashe County. Dr. Cox spoke of Mrs. Miller’s dedication to the board and the valuable contribution she made while serving as chair of the Finance Committee. Mrs. Miller served on the board from July 1, 2004, through June 30, 2020. Wilkes Community College is grateful for the invaluable service that was given by Mrs. Miller during her 16-year tenure as a board member.
