Defensive Driving Program

Have you received a traffic citation?

Qualified drivers may receive a reduction on certain traffic offenses by completing the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course. Completion of the course may result in a reduced plea (e.g. improper equipment) which will allow you to avoid insurance and driver’s license points for the violation. Costs of court and fines will still be assessed.

Course completion is documented and maintained through a statewide database. Drivers are only eligible to participate in the program one time in a three-year period.

At this time, all Defensive Driving classes will be held online. Visit www.safetync.org to register.

4-Hour Defensive Driving

This course will help influence drivers to make positive choices to improve driving behaviors and attitudes and encourage respectful and lawful decisions to avoid collisions and decrease traffic violations.

8-Hour Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving

This behavior-based course is recommended for drivers with multiple violations and those with poor driving habits. Participants will learn the direct connection between attitude and choice and the potential results of poor driving conduct.

Alive at 25

This highly interactive four-hour program helps young drivers under the age of 25 to take greater responsibility for their driving by focusing on behavior, judgment, and decision-making.
