Wilkes Community College’s (WCC’s) Workforce Development and Community Education department is pleased to announce the addition of two new academies beginning in August 2021. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Cyber Security jobs and Computer Networking jobs are in high demand are expected to continue to grow
The Cyber Security Academy will begin on August 23, 2021 and will run through December 10, 2021. The academy is a two-part series that includes a free Intro to Cyber Security course as well as CyberOps Associate and Network Security. Upon completion of this program students will be prepared to apply for entry-level positions such as an Associate Security Analyst or an Incident Responder, as well as being eligible to take the Cisco Certified CyberOps Certification exam.
The Computer Networking Academy is also a two-part series that will run from August 23, 2021, through May 6, 2022. This program consists of CCNA Networking Routing & Switching and CCNA Networking Switching/WAN. Upon completion of this program, students will be prepared to take the Cisco CCNA Certification exam. Scholarships are available for this program.
No experience is required for these programs other than basic computer knowledge. Both programs are 100% online and provide credit toward an IT degree at Wilkes Community College.
