Wilkes Community College’s 58th Annual Commencement Ceremony took place on Thursday, May 16, in the John A. Walker Community Center on the Wilkes Campus. There was a total of 433 graduates earning a total of 1,095 credentials and a total of 296 students participating in the two ceremonies.
The Arts and Sciences Division and Business and Public Service Technology Division (BPST) graduates had 172 graduates participate in the 4:00 p.m. ceremony. The Applied Career Technology Division and Health Sciences Division graduates had 124 graduates participate in the 7:00 p.m. ceremony.
Presenters for the program were Morgan Francis, interim president of Wilkes Community College; Mr. John G. Vannoy, chairperson of the Board of Trustees; and, Emily Holman, president of the Student Government Association. Kristen Macemore, vice president of Instruction, presented the candidates.
The prelude for the ceremony was provided by Summit Strings. Ms. Emily Holman, Soloist sang the national anthem. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Lakey Ballroom for graduates, faculty, staff, and guests.
