Wilkes Community College Foundation’s 41st annual Henry Moore Scholarship Golf Classic was held on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Since 1984, this event has contributed $864,950 to Wilkes Community College in memory of Henry Moore. There were 96 players participating. Proceeds from the tournament totaled over $50,000 and will provide scholarships. Window World, Inc. was the lead sponsor for the tournament. History
Henry Moore was a strong supporter of Wilkes Community College and instrumental in the establishment of Oakwoods Country Club. He had a significant role in the planning of WCC’s first golf tournament with the help of the layout and details of the event. Henry was also the first player to sign up to play. Unfortunately, Henry Moore passed away a few months prior to the first tournament in 1984. Saddened by the loss of a great friend and supporter, the college named the tournament the Henry Moore Golf Classic in his memory.
The golf classic supports WCC Scholarships.
The golf tournament is held the first Thursday of October each year.
