Critical ThinkingHow to Evaluate Information using Critical Thinking
Distance LearningStudents in off-campus sites or those taking a distance learning course may use the college library by contacting Wilkes Community College (WCC) library at 336-838-6114 or e-mail the director. Students at Alleghany and Ashe sites are encouraged to attend orientations in the public libraries. Ashe County students may contact the Ashe County Public Library at 336-846-2041 and Alleghany students may contact the Alleghany Public Library at 336-372-5573, to schedule an orientation. WCC is part of the CCLINC system that provides our students with access to 45 North Carolina community college libraries. Students may search the collections of these libraries on WCC’s online library catalog. Students and personnel may also access NCLIVE through public libraries and/or by a special arrangement with the college. NCLIVE allows one to access electronic databases for full-text periodicals. It also provides access to WorldCat, an index to library book collections in community colleges, private, public, or university libraries. Appalachian State University students taking classes at Wilkes Community College may wish to view Virtual Research @ ASU Libraries: A Guide for Off Campus Students. This presentation demonstrates how students may research ASU's library collections online as well as how to take advantage of their Interlibrary Loan Services. |
