Certified Landscape Technician-Exterior (CLT-E)

Students will test for in-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of the installation and maintenance of exterior Landscapes. The CLT-E is a highly proficient course in which the students are trained in the identification and use of plants in exterior locations.

Students are trained in the identification and treatment of plant disease and pest infestations with emphasis on Integrated Pest Management and safety in ensuring that all chemicals are applied according to EPA and OSHA Standards.

In addition the CLT-E has demonstrated proficiency in equipment safety, Plant layout, Grading and drainage, paver installation, with specialization certifications in Irrigation repair and Installation and Landscape maintenance.

Upon completion of the course, students may elect to sit for the national exam approved by the American Landscaper Contractors Association 


 

 Certified Landscape Technician-Interior ( CLT-I) 

Students will test for in-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of the installation and maintenance of interior landscapes. The CLT-I is a highly proficient course in which students are trained in the identification, pruning aspects, plant nutrition, irrigation and use of plants for interior landscapes.

Students are trained in the identification and treatment of plant disease and pest infestations with emphasis on Integrated Pest Management and safety in ensuring that all chemicals are applied according to EPA and OSHA Standards.

Upon completion of the course, students may elect to sit for the national exam approved by the American Landscaper Contractors Association.


Certified Arborist Exam Prep Program

Students will test for in-depth knowledge with regards to the technical aspects of tree care.  The Certified Arborist Exam prep course is a highly proficient course in which students are trained in:

  • the identification
  • pruning aspects
  • plant nutrition
  • irrigation
  • selection and management
  • tree biology
  • climbing and working in trees
  • use of trees

Students are trained in the identification and treatment of tree diseases and pest infestations with emphasis on Integrated Pest Management and safety in ensuring that all chemicals are applied according to EPA and OSHA Standards.

Upon completion of the course, students may elect to sit for the International Society of Arboriculture-Arborist Certification Exam administered by the Southern Chapter of ISA.


Commercial Pesticide Licensing Course

This course is intended for persons who would either sell or apply pesticides in numerous situations, i.e. Dealers of pesticides, Commercial Applicators (Nonstructural), Public Operators (Nonstructural), Consultants and Private Applicators. Students will learn the proper use and application of pesticides along with proper disposal methods.

Students will study and know the laws and regulations concerning pesticide use and storage. Upon completion of this course, students may elect to sit for the North Carolina Pesticide Licensing and Certification administered by the State of North Carolina.


Floral Design

Students will learn the proper techniques for preparing floral arrangements for home use as well as commercial use. Fresh cut flowers and artificial flowers will be used in the making of the arrangements.


Grafting Apple Root Stock

Students will be instructed on the proper methods of grafting trees to root stock.

Students will learn techniques of how to save valuable trees from dieting and to preserve flowering buds off of    dieting trees.

Students will learn how to care for newly grafted and young grafted trees.
