How to Apply
To qualify for financial aid you must first be enrolled at WCC. So, if you have not already applied for admission, visit the Admissions Office to complete the admissions process.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students may complete the application on www.fafsa.ed.gov . Students will be considered for all aid programs available through the college (as described in this section) except certain scholarship or loan programs. After your FAFSA is submitted, you will be able to check the status of your FAFSA in about 1 week. You will receive information regarding your aid at Wilkes Community College through your college email account.
Continuation of financial aid from one academic year to the next is not automatic. Students who plan to enroll in college for another year must re-apply for financial aid. Applications (FAFSA and the WCC Scholarship Application) will be available online after January 1.
The WCC Financial Aid Office offers information sessions each semester to assist student's with applying for financial aid. If you are interested please contact 336-838-6144 for more information.
The U.S. Department of Education has made it easy for students to apply for federal aid. Applications are completed online using the previous years tax returns (ex. 2015-16 school year uses 2014 taxes). Here are some tips to help you with the process.
- Currently you must have a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to submit your FAFSA after it is completed. To apply for a PIN, request your PIN (if you have forgotten it or lost it), or for information proceed to the PIN website.
- Dependent students must have a PIN and a parent must also apply for a PIN. Both a student PIN and a parent PIN must be used to submit your FAFSA.
- You can work on your FAFSA and save your work without submitting it. You will be given instructions on how to save it. You can return at a later time to complete your FAFSA.
