Welcome to the Alleghany Center of Wilkes Community College. We are dedicated to providing the citizens of Alleghany County and beyond a wide range of educational opportunities to allow students to achieve their goals. Our programs and services are designed with one purpose in mind?helping our students succeed.

There are two full degree programs offered at the Alleghany Center, with coursework in other programs scheduled as interest warrants. Our business administration program gives graduates an opportunity to enter the job market in a wide range of positions. Our college transfer curriculum concentrates on the coursework required during the first two years of study at four-year colleges and universities. We have a growing partnership with Alleghany High School through the Career and College Promise program, with pathways in college transfer, business, nurse aide, and applied engineering. Classes at the Alleghany Center tend to be relatively small, allowing students to get to know their instructors and instructors to know their students. You will be challenged, but you will know that the faculty and staff are dedicated to your success.

If you are interested in short-term training to enhance your work skills or for personal enrichment, then we have programs for that, too. Certification programs in nurse aide, phlebotomy, real estate, and other areas are offered at the Alleghany Center. Our business and industry training team work with the local business and industry community to develop courses that raise the skill level of employees and a enhance the county?s economic development. We also offer courses in many other areas, including beekeeping, gunsmithing, workplace Spanish, and green technologies. New courses are added often, so check our latest schedule to see what might be right for you.

If you are without a high school, diploma then our Adult High School diploma or HSE preparatory course may be right for you. Small classes and individual instruction ensures students in these courses can rapidly meet their goals. There are also online courses available, providing a highly flexible mode for students to meet this essential workforce credential.

The Alleghany Center is dedicated to student success and to providing a high quality, affordable education to members of our community. We look forward to you joining us!
