Student Success Center

The Student Success Center (SSC) is located in the highest level in the north end of Thompson Hall. It is comprised of Student Support Services (SSS), the Open Computer Lab/Computer Writing Center (OCL / CWC), the Testing Center (TC), and Developmental Studies (DS).

The SSS provides academic advising, career exploration, disability services, personal counseling, transfer advising, and tutoring.  For more details click here: Student Support Services

The OCL / CWC, TC, and DS area is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on selected Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The Open Computer Lab / Computer Writing Center

The Open Computer Lab has forty-two PCs that are Internet connected and loaded with many programs that support the college curriculum. We encourage students to make full use of this important facility. There are lab instructors available to aid students in office systems/computer courses, math, medical transcription, Internet research, e-Learning courses, CampusCruiser, and other special projects. One other function of the OCL is the Computer Writing Center (CWC). English instructors are on hand to help students with writing assignments.

The Testing Center

The Testing Center exists to meet the flexible needs of students and instructors at WCC. We provide a secure testing facility for e-Learning courses, Developmental Studies labs, regular class make up tests, etc.

Developmental Studies

Developmental Studies is an important part of the academic program at WCC. Three academic areas--reading, English, and mathematics--are served by the Developmental Studies instructors. All entering freshmen at WCC, whether recently graduated from high school or older adults returning to school, are given placement tests to determine if they need developmental courses. Depending on tests scores, each student is assigned to the appropriate Developmental Studies courses which help guarantee the student's success in college level courses.
