Services for Enrolled Participants
Participants meet with an SSS advisor to complete an Individualized Plan of Services, selecting a minimum of three services per semester in which to participate.
Academic Advising helps students select appropriate classes that will enhance skills and satisfy career goals;
Academic Luncheons give students time to socialize and gain valuable academic information during informal luncheons;
Academic Skills Building helps students strengthen skills such as test taking, study skills, goal setting, time management and assertiveness;
Career Exploration provides students the opportunity to explore their interests, skills and values so they can make informed career decisions;
Computer Lab provides Internet connected computers equipped with a variety of software and staffed by lab assistants;
Cultural Events provide students with both on and off campus cultural enrichment opportunities;
Disability Services provide information and assistance to students with documented disabilities;
Financial Aid Advising helps students secure all possible means of financial assistance so they can afford to stay in school;
Learning Disability Assessments determine if students have a learning disability that is interfering with their ability to succeed in college;
Learning Styles Inventories give students feedback about how they learn and what motivates them to learn;
Lending Library and Textbook Scholarships provides students textbooks or the opportunity to borrow textbooks;
Personal Counseling provides a safe and confidential environment where students talk with a licensed psychologist or a licensed counselor about issues which may impede educational success;
Progress Reports provide mid-semester information about grades and class performance;
Quiet Room offers an area set aside for relaxation, anxiety reduction, and general peace and quiet;
Transfer Advising and Trips assist students with transfer planning. Visits to 4-year colleges familiarize students with campuses so they can make informed decisions;
Tutoring provides individualized assistance that supplements classroom instruction to help students master concepts.
