Message from the President

Wilkes Community College (WCC) is very pleased to be a part of the new process for reaffirmation of accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. WCC is committed to the concept of quality enhancement in providing comprehensive education and educational services to the community and is excited to be using this new reaffirmation process to advance the college’s effectiveness and its fulfilling of its mission.

Community colleges must constantly undergo self-evaluation and renewal to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world. As a result of this intensive evaluation process, Wilkes Community College will use this valuable information to ensure that it is operating at the highest levels possible. When I came to Wilkes Community College as president in 1996, I was impressed by the efficiency of the college’s operation. In its history, WCC has never had a financial or FTE audit exception. What an outstanding record in the 40-year history of the college! This evaluation process will ensure that improvements are made, as needed, to continue this legacy.

On behalf of WCC, I welcome you as a visitor to our campus. As you review WCC’s compliance audits and the accompanying documentations on the web, you will be made aware of the measures that the administration, faculty, and staff have taken throughout the visioning and planning processes to build on our strengths and improve on any areas of weakness.
