General Information

The Wilkes Community College SACS website is best viewed using 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' version 6.0 at a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels or greater. Some links (anchors, direct-to-page-# links, etc.) may not function properly in other browsers. Many of the supporting documents are in Adobe “pdf” format. A link to download Adobe Acrobat Reader is provided on the website under “How to Use This Site” and under “Site Resource Links”.

For the convenience of the reader, excerpts from lengthy documents such as the college catalog or the North Carolina Administrative Code have been provided. Complete text of these documents may be found on the web site reference area using the “Quick Reference List” link.

Website Structure

This site is broken down into four categories: General Information, Reference Area, Compliance Audit, and Enhancement Plan. These categories are listed on the menu bar (at the top of each page) and contain several subcategories. When viewing a particular category’s sub page, its components are listed on a sub menu bar (on the right of the page). These can also be accessed from the "SACS Home Page"' at any time.

A description of each section will be presented as the opening page when clicking on a category in the top menu. Additionally, there are resource links and contact information links in the bottom menu. The back button on the left of the top menu can be used to go back one page at any time.

Outline of Website

1) SACS Homepage

This section of the website provides:

• the main menu or navigation bar which appears on all pages of the site
• an introduction to the website
• the four main categories listed below and their sub menus
• link to phone numbers and email address for technical support
• site resource links

2) General Information

This section of the website provides:

• an overview of Wilkes Community College
• a welcome from the college president
• an introduction to the college employees responsible for the compliance portion of the reaffirmation process
• a site map to assist users in navigating to resources of interest
  

3) Reference Area

This section of the website provides:

• a database of faculty credentials that may be sorted according to the interests of the reader.
• a quick reference to all college policies and procedures
• a collection of documents that relate to many of the core requirements and standards and that provide a broad understanding of the college
• tips on how to use this website most effectively
  

4) Compliance Audit

This section of the website provides:

• a quick link to all core requirements, comprehensive standards, and federal requirements
• a brief description of the process used by the college to complete its compliance review
• a list of all core requirements, comprehensive standards, and federal requirements along with the administrative unit responsible for writing the compliance report
• the compliance audit reports for each core requirement, comprehensive standard, and federal requirement
  

5) Enhancement Plan

This section of the website provides:

• a brief description of the process and proposed schedule to be used by the college to complete its Quality Enhancement Plan
• the college’s response to Core Requirement 2.12, Quality Enhancement Plan
• the Quality Enhancement Plan document

Navigating the SACS website

General Navigation Tips:

• At the top and bottom of each page are navigation bars that take the reader to the main sections of the site plus a contact button for help and a list of site resources.
• Each of the main sections of the website has its own sub page with a directory of its contents on the right side of the page; click on any of these links to access its content.
• The numbers within compliance report narratives are shortcuts to the bottom of the narrative where the name of the document is located and serves as a link to the actual document.
• Clicking on the icon returns reader from a document citation to the exact place in the narrative for that document number.
• “Expand All” or “Collapse All” buttons shows or collapses the entire list of links to compliance reports on the “Compliance Audit Reports” page.
• Whenever you open a document, the documentation always opens in a new window. When you finish reading a document, you just close the window and you are back to the compliance window.
• If you would prefer to read the statements on paper, click the "Print This Page" icon to present a printer friendly page for printing.
