Workforce Development & Community Education

Ongoing changes in technology, and career and job requirements, create the need for life-long learning for individuals in both occupational and vocational areas. The Workforce Development & Community Education (WDCE) is responsible for responding to these needs by providing services to individuals, organizations, businesses, and industries within Alleghany, Ashe and Wilkes counties. Tailored to the needs of our service area, continuing education programs range from courses in basic skills to advanced courses in various technical fields. In addition, a range of vocational programs are offered that meet the needs and interests of the citizens of the region. ContEdHomepagePhoto

These are non-curriculum classes that provide continuing education units and are made available whenever there are a sufficient number of students interested in a specific subject area.

Adults may also attend continuing education courses to improve vocational and practical skills. These programs are available to adults 18 years or older.

Vehicle Inspection and OBD Initial/Recertification courses now require all students to bring the NCDMV LT-310 Form signed by their shop owner/manager with them to class. Not having this form will delay DMV in the processing of paperwork.
